The stickers represent leaves from a buckeye tree. Ohio is known as the Buckeye State. A buckeye is a nut that grows on the trees. The players are awarded these "leaves" for good plays.

<< swore i was the only one wondering, i thought it was marijuana...silly me. Most of the time the coaches buy these cheap stickers to put on ur helmet through catalogs. None really mean anything just for every sticker something was accomplished. Like if you scored a td, youd get a sticker, likewise with an interception or a forced fumble. In high school ours were little tigers, sometimes theyre footballs..

I think it has to do with touch downs...yards...and so forth. What ever it is they do, they count it by putting stickers on their helmets. They didn't get to put many on last night.
