And if they do, we just have a little chat about how we all learn differently and it's usually not a big deal.

-When you're working at home, have her make "statues" of important concepts--she stands up and makes a pose that embodies whatever you're discussing. For example, you could have her make statues of the three states of matter (liquid molecules are flowy and shapeless, solid molecules are hard and rigid, gas molecules bounce around, etc.) and then--this is key--have her talk or write about what she's just done and why.

-Charades is great as a vocabulary review.

-Consider having her draw or write concepts in something tactile--a sandtray, fingerpaint, even chocolate pudding on newspaper! If she uses her hands, she's more likely to retain it.

-Visit a teacher supply store and ask them to show you "manipulatives" (that's your magical key word) for her particular grade and subject. There are a zillion really cool tools out there.

And definitely encourage her in subjects where her body-mind connection will be an advantage. Dance, sports, drama, visual art, music--all great for kinesthetic learners.

For instance, if your child has to study for a test you could make a game out of it like Pictionary using the vocabulary. Or you could make flashcards together & you could hide them all over the house & have a flashcard scavenger hunt . On the back of the 1st word write a clue leading them to find the card w/ the definition on it. Example: photosynthesis on front & on back of card write : to find the definition look towards the light & you could have it hidden under a lamp.
