Yay! Period talk! lol
I remember when i first got mine...i was in the city with my friend and i saw all this brown stuff on my underwear and it looked like crap lol. i started crying and called my mom and i was SOOO embarrassed!!!!
Here are some tips to help you out:
1. First of all, stay calm. After being ashamed and all of that, I realized it was an amazing thing (corny as it sounds).
2. like someone else said, do NOT use tampons to start with. the first time using a tampon is really scary and i screwed up a couple of times myself. get your mom or sister or female family member to help you sort it out once you feel you are ready.
3. don't be embarrassed to buy pads/tampons at a store...atleast you're not buying adult size diapers lol
4. talk about it with your friends! if you feel something's weird...ask your friends! it's so great to know that i have my friends to talk to about all this "girly stuff"
5. be prepared. the "red carpet" could come at any time. keep pads and eventually tampons handy always...in your purse, in your backpack..etc.
Good luck and welcome to womanhood darling!
xxx
Hope this helped!

First of all since you're having a discharge right now you should use a pantyliner so that when the real deal comes you're prepared. Also put a couple pads in your purse or backpack so that when and where your period strikes you have them with you just in case. Use pads for a while because tampons are not recommended to use when you're young like you are. Doctors recommend this because of TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome) has been linked to tampons and young women. Last bit of advice calm down every thing's normal. Just use the pantyliners, pack a couple of pads to keep with you, and it'll happen when it happens. Also you might want to talk with an adult female that you're close to and also at some point you're family physician. Hope this helps and Good luck.

It's nothing at all to worry about. We were all scared for the first time, and then realized that it's no big deal. Don't use tampons until you're used to having your period. For the first time, carry a pad in your purse. As for when you get it, no one can say. It will be anywhere between ages 12 and 16! For most girls I know, it's around age 13 (including myself). Talk to your mom as well, or school nurse, or trusted adult. They can tell you better than anyone on Yahoo answers can! Relax, breathe, be happy.

Put on a sanitary napkin when you get it, make sure and change them often, otherwise you may start to smell in between. you perspiration may kick up during that time, so walk with some deodorant to school and stuff, so you can always touch up. if you get cramps, try doing some pelvic exercises or stretches, or just sleep...and it should pass (not a big fan of medication). oh....and make sure and date when periods, so you wont be surprised and embarrased if it comes at an inappropriate time. and dont wear the bulky ones, wear the thinner ones with wings. But a period is nothing to be afraid of....its just you turning into a woman.

I got discharge for more than a year without (starting to) getting a period, and I check everyday, discharge is very normal. Unless your over 18, dont wry about it.

Like me, I'm still ashamed to buy the lady stuff. lol
The first time is a little scary.
Make sure you have pads at all time with u, and some pills. For some people plain headache pain relieve are the best, for other the extra period pain killer are the best.
Best of Luck!

Don't they give a puberty class in school? I thought most schools did this in 4 or 5th grade. Talk to your Mom or an adult female..it's natural and there is nothing to be scared of.
