exactly my point Giggles 'cause nobody was born Boss and at least in Private Companies u never know if tomorrow u r still gonna be the "boss".
mine tries to be "friendly" but fails miserably..

when I did work, the CEO of the company is usually some prick who doesn't even acknowledge those on the bottom of the totem pole. they never come down out of their fully furnished, Marriot Suite-looking offices way up on the 80th floor to see what's really going on. All they rely on is reports and worry about numbers, numbers, numbers. The bosses underneath them are real pricks because they always feel as if their hides are on the line so they treat their employees like crap to make a good impression on the CEO. Tossing a $25 gift certificate around at Christmastime doesn't make up for treating your employees wrong all year long.

Because bosses act like their sh*t don't stink. They think a little bit of power and authority and they own you. I have a boss, but she is great. I am a boss and I try to be so fair with my employees, because I have had many bosses that truly suck. I never forget where I came from!

We, at our work, dislike our bosses because they have no clue how hard our jobs really are and they keep pouring more stuff on. We don't think they would be able to do our jobs! What ever happened to the concept of working supervisors? They must go for ego training.

Well, I'm the big boss ... so I think most people dont like the big boss because they have to correct people's behavior too often. Trust me, we would like nothing more than to just come to work, have our staff do 100% what they are suppose to do without giving us any trouble and then we call it a day and go home.
We get NO pleasure out of correcting people's behavior. It makes our lives miserable.

Look at it from his view....your only a peon and are supposed to do all the things that he doesn't have to. He can't be your friend and he can't help how you feel about him.
Some people who go into management have a power problem like some police officers, attorneys or well, like your boss.
Besides, if you were in your Boss' shoes how would you behave? Would you want to be friends with people you had to order around? If so, how would you speak to them about handling situations that they might not like?
Just something to keep in mind.

My boss at one job (comic shop) is my best friend and we get along splendidly.
I'm my own boss at my other job (musician) and I get along with me just fine most of the time.
