may I recommend the book "What The Bible Really Has To Say About Homosexuality". In it you will find a discussion about how that story was mistranslated and thereby, the meaning of the story was significantly changed. It also offers some good "food for thought" on some other verses and topics. I think that the most major errors happened with the King James version. If there was a doubt as to which translation to use, King J made the choice and by doing so, caused some meanings to be very distorted and thereby changed the true meanings of the tales. As stated by someone above, the story of Sodom and Gomorrah was about in-hospitality, not homosexuality. I might add that the translations done in the Middle Ages severely changed and warped much of the original meanings of the Bible and it's stories. Plus, if you look at the different versions of the Bible there are things left out or added, seemingly on a whim, and so while I feel the Bible is divinely inspired, I don't trust that Man, in his arrogance, has not tampered with the text to his liking and thereby destroyed all true meaning of the text.

First of all, the total answer to your question is "Yes." I've heard the story. I've read it. That answers your question.
Now to give you my input - the story isn't supposed to be taken as a story of God punishing bad people. It's a story pointing out that you can still be a good person, even when surrounded by bad people, and you still may be blessed for it. It's a story of hope. Not punishment.
You and most other Christians, once again, miss the complete point of a Biblical story, and take this stuff literally. That's very ignorant and dangerous, buddy.
One may even apply the story in a social sense - you can be your own person, even when everyone around you is a certain way - and although they may even dislike you, or treat you badly, you can still come out on top.

The Story of Sodom and Gomorrah is a story of Hospitality, not Homosexuality.
The desert peoples had and still have customs in place to take care of their people who "roam." By ensuring that they were taken in and cared for like "family," it involved their survival. However in Sodom and Gomorrah, their safety was no longer ensured, and instead, Lot even offered up his OWN daughters and still no peace. The homosexuality is an "aside," story that has nothing to little to do with the story, its the story of a brutal people who had given up their true customs to desire "the flesh instead." DO SOME RESEARCH! This is why Lots wife was turned to salt when when looked back, she missed the new customs that Jehovah God hated.

Any thinking person would ask why God didn't get rid of all gays and lesbians? I mean, come on.....He's God. Can't God do everything? Why would God waste all this time and energy when He could immediately rid the world of all homosexuality. Why? What a total waste of energy, time and ink!
OK....I gave it a thought............and I have reached a decision.
I am not a christian.....will never be a christian....and really don't care what your christian bible says....because I'm not a christian.
I still want to know why God didn't destroy all homosexuality if it's such an abomination. We were given free will, but we were not given the freedom to choose what / who sexually attracts us.
Why did your God mess this up so badly?

And ancient mythology of the middle east has what to do with today? Are you also afraid of Djinn? Being swallowed by a whale? There have been flood myths throughout history all occurring at a different time and the physics as well as the mathmatics proves it is impossible to have happened the way many of those myths claim, should I worry about them as well? Rainbows are a matter of physical science, yet supposedly before Noah there were none?
Sorry. I don't believe in ghost stories and what would have been considered Urban Myths at the time they were written.

ok, Abraham had 2 SONS. No daughters. One son replaced into by way of adultery and this displeased God and so punishment replaced into given. the different son, Isaac, replaced into to be provided up as a sacrifice to verify that Abraham replaced into totally obedient to God. No incest isn't an appropriate prepare. In Lamentations, it tells each and all the sexual acts that are incorrect. there is an act of incest in a while interior the Bible the place Lot's 2 daughters get him inebriated because of the fact there are no longer the different adult males, yet that's no longer familiar with tips from God. there is likewise Judah's daughter-in-regulation who tricks him in to intercourse with tips from posing as a prostitute in an act of revenge. That wasn't suitable the two. it relatively is guy's loose will. God gave guy the flexibility of loose will. loose will equals the flexibility to sin. in case you admit your sins to God and say sorry, he will forgive you. in case you do no longer, your screwed. you could say sorry many circumstances. because of the fact of this Christ died on the circulate. you could't p.c.. and choose verses from the Bible to make a case. you ought to take the full factor, and get your info today, till now you additionally could make any assessment.

I think it is important to remember that God`s friend at the time, Abraham, was begging God to spare the city...(Genesis 18:22-33)

And since the bible was interpreted, re-written, and translated so many times, do you really think that the true authors' meaning stayed intact, or do you think that maybe, just maybe, there was some personal feelings thrown in by the people that "edited" the original manuscript to suit their own needs/wants/fears?
Give that a thought.
