Sounds like your talking about one of those "magical gas saver" type things. It's supposed to smooth out the air flow going into the engine and yada, yada, yada. FORGET ABOUT IT!!! They are all SCAMS!

I think that what you are referring to is the scoop that sticks out thru the hood to increase the amount of air rammed into the carburetor. It is a high performance adder and does not have much regular everyday function. On the street it is really more of an appearance thing that makes the car look "fast".

Instead of buying that, send the money to me! At least I will thank you for it.

They are a waste of money. If it worked, car manufacturers would be using them to increase their EPA MPG ratings.
