I don't know if the word is 'outdated'; that implies that at one point in time it was a decent system - which is debatable. But your point is a good one, the system should be improved. Allowing teams like Boise State and Rutgers (it's a good thing they lost or that would have been a real mess too) a chance to prove themselves is a good thing... they should not be punished because they 'only' beat such-and-such teams. If a D1 team goes 11-0 or 12-0 why should they be punished? How much better can you do than perfect after all?

Well, there is only 1 undeated team in the Division 1 and they are ranked 5th for the year. Unfortunately for them, they do not play in theSEC or Big 10 or Pac10 conferences. There will be no playoff system in the near future. The big conferences make way too much money and because of their selfishness, they will never vote on a playoff system, unless the fans force them too.

But, how nice would a playoff system been this year. I am sure Ohio State now wishes that they did not have to sit idol for two months. I am sure Boise State wishes they could have proven themselves.

So, what needs to be done is a boycott of the Bowl Games. Do not watch. Tune in to something else so the powers that be finally realize that the consumers want something else. But, if the Nielson ratings go up every year, the major conferences will never change.

Playoffs????!! Playoffs???!!!

Boise State deserves a shot at the title. Look at George Mason in basketball. They had a shot and they were the talk of the year in college basketball. I'm not saying that Boise State will beat Florida or Ohio State or even USC. Just give them a chance. Boise State deserves the praise and a chance just like George Mason did. You win, you keep going.

Boise State got a bowl bid and performed well against a relatively formidable Oklahoma team from the BIG 12. Boise State IS NOT a contender for the #1 team. If they played a team like USC, Florida, Wisconsin LSU, and even OSU they would be trounced and humiliated and go humbly back home to the WAC. Playoffs are the answer I guess. If you claim that Boise State is punished for not being in a powerhouse league and being undefeated you also have to claim that teams like Wisconsin are punished for being in a powerhouse league because I am sure if they played in the WAC they would be undefeated too. There only loss was to Michigan on the road. They beat a good SEC team in there bowl bid.

I have always been for the playoffs.

I read an article by a guy on ESPN.com who talked about how a playoff system would actually take away from the college game.

I agree with him in some sense. Every week is do or die in college football and that is what really makes the game so exciting.

I think if you have a playoff system it needs to be a limited number of teams to keep that excitement alive.

Maybe 6-4 teams in playoff? Maybe 8.

It would sure be fun to watch though!

No. I like th fact that Boise State had a good year and was given a chance to play a top team from a top conference. Regardless of their undefeated season, I still don't think they should be regarded as a "top tier" team. There are teams with one or two losses that are better teams who just had to go through a much tougher schedule. I still think Oklahoma is a better who just got outplayed on a particular day.

No they don't, they beat a terrible Oklahoma team that shouldn't have been in a BCS. If Boise had played LSU, USC, Michigan, Ohio State or Florida they would have gotten killed.

Ohio State fans that keep calling for Boise State are sore losers, and are trying to belittle Florida's win. Just stop it. HA, HA.
