The pants are a (plain) medium gray shade. I was thinking a white or black shirt might look ok, but that seems a bit boring.

I agree that white or black can be boring with grey. So can other greys. Yellow makes a relaxing combo with grey. Blues are nice too. For more dazzle, I may wear burgundy or orange shirts with grey pants. You must consider your own coloring. I am ruddy and dark, so the colors mentioned are good for me. My brother is more olive and brown, so he can wear green, but I cannot. You might try it. Voilets and purples might be OK with grey, but they are riskier than the previous colors. Brown does not look proper with grey. They are neutrals that clash some.

what color looks best on you? not a beige with gray but otherwise gray is a neutral and can carry about any color.

white or black are good for office. I am a pink person so would probably go with that. Also consider patterns. Have fun

I would go with sharp jewel tones...garnet, deep green, blue, purple. No pastel colors, however, they will be too washed out. Just be sure that whatever you wear, it's wrinkle-free. Black is good too, just accent it with a splash of color, perhaps a scarf around the neck or waist, or a sweater over it, or a camisole under it for contrast.

Oh honey, how could we possibly give you a good answer without knowing what shoes you are wearing. Are they heels, flats, pumps, boots? Are you wearing socks, hose, or nothing?

Personally, I like pink with gray slacks...any range from pastel to bright pink works with gray. I'm a sucker for bright red and gray. Other than that you should probably stay with the lighter/pastel colors.

We are in 2007, you choose your style ;)

Go shopping and take the pants along with you. Put it on whatever you like and see if it looks cute.

I'd definitely have something white and black for it, but also find something like BABY YELLOW as well... of course we can't judge as well since we don't know the exact shade.

Enjoy it!
