What are you thoughts on speed cameras.

Do you think they are a method of government funding or a good way of improving road safety.

Do you know of any examples to back upi your theory.

Do you know of any good websites that can answer my question???

Your help is most appreciated.

In my opinion there are used to obtain extra funds for the government or whatever department benefits from it. The motorists and pedestrians do not benefit at all.

In my country, most speed cameras are hidden away where its hard to see them. What is the point of that? They are supposed to DETER ppl from speeding hence should be readily visible at all times, but instead they hidden, so you still speed along that road causing danger to pedestrians unaware of that camera. No road safety in that thought. They are supposed to be the DETERRENT, punishment is far too late when some1 has been hurt by speedsters

They are pointless cash cows for the departments involved.

They are very little to do with road safety ! they are in fact a revenue golden egg for the Government! When you read the rise in speed camera numbers compared to fatalities it becomes abundantly clear what they are
