He was stationed in Germany around 1958, he was drafted and served the normal 2 years, 6 months of training and the rest of the time he served overseas. It was after Korea which ended in 1953 and before VietNam.

VietNam had just started when Elvis went in, but he didn't have to go. He served his whole tour in Germany.

Vietnam started for theUS around 1958, but we didn't start sending troops until about 62 then more & more each year after

I think he did not serve actively in a war. He was stationed in Germany, though.

WWII (no he was just inlisted) to serve spent most of that time in germany (where he met presila)
