There are several possibilities why you could experience the pain you describe:

Vaginal pain with intercourse can result from insufficient lubrication and dryness of the vagina, although that usually also involves pain during intercourse. You did not say whether you have pain during sex or only afterwards. If you don't have pain with intercourse, you are probably sufficiently lubricated.

Irritation of the vagina and urethral opening may also be caused by excessive friction, caused by long periods of hard penile thrusting. Remember, the vagina is composed of sensitive skin, and just as you can scrape your arm if you rub too hard on something you can also get a very sore vagina from long and intensive sex. The painful urination after sex is caused from the irritation of the urethral opening, since the opening of the urethra and the vaginal opening are located closely together it is possible for the penis in certain positions during intercourse to rub on and irritate the urethral opening. Therefore, if you urinate shortly after sex it may burn or sting a bit, prompting you to not empty your bladder completely, since it is painful. Hence, you may feel the need that you still have to go. Pain in the vaginal area from irritation due to intense intercourse usually lasts only a few days and involves a feeling of soreness between the legs. If burning or pain on urination is prolonged or if the frequency of having to go to the bathroom increases, it is usually a sign that there is a urinary tract infection.

Lastly, vaginal pain and pain or burning on urination may also result from a vaginal infection, which normally also involves a smelly discharge from the vagina and pain or itching. Vaginal infections are sometimes be caused by STDs (sexually transmitted diseases).

My girlfriend has experienced pain after intercourse too.

Try using water based lubricants. Dryness can hurt the female alot more than the man. Also, try different positions, the back wall of the vagina can get pretty raw if the man is hitting it all the time. Try positions like doggy style or cowgirl.

Dyspareunia [painful intercourse with or without bleeding] can be caused by a number of factors, including vaginal dryness, atrophic vaginitis (thinning of the vaginal lining in some women, usually postmenopausal or those on certain drug therapies, including antihistamines and GnRH agonists), an allergic reaction such as to clothing, spermicides, douches or condoms, Endometriosis, Vulvodynia, Vulvar vestibulitis, Interstitial Cystitis, Lichen planus/Lichen sclerosis, urinary tract infections, vaginal yeast infections, sexually transmitted diseases and psychological or physical trauma. Dyspareunia is diagnosed based on specific symptoms and your medical history, and is treated through a number of different means depending on the cause, including use of lubrication during sexual activity, antifungals, antibiotics or other medications, recommending Sitz baths, use of topical estrogen cream or steroid cream, pain medications, surgery where appropriate (such as in the case of Endometriosis; see www.endocenter.org for a self-test to determine if this is your problem) and sometimes physical therapy with biofeedback. In order to determine the cause of your specific dyspareunia (and thereby enable you to choose a proper treatment), talk with your OBGYN.

it could be that you are wet enough during sex and the friction is causing little tears on your vaginal wall, if that is the case, dont have sex for a few days and let them heal, those tears can be more prone to STDs. then next time you have sex periodically apply some water based lube. or maybe you are allergic to latex, and the condom is what is causing trhe pain. if that is so, switch to sheepskin(non latex) condoms. and it could also be if you arent using condoms you could be allergic your mans semen, and yes it is possible. it thats it simply put on a condom.

Do you mean after a long time of not having had intercourse? Then don't worry, you will be sore afterwards. If you have regular sex you toughen up, if you don't you'll become more sensitive again.

the same thing happens to me your body has a lot of elasticity in it so that a woman can have a child but if it did not return to normal then we would all be walking around with our inside trailing behind us so all that i can say is don't wait so long in between sex and to lubricate alot just be safe about it

It could be his penis skin.... even a little rough or dry patch can irritate the inside of the vagina. Get him to use a penis skin moisturizer like Man1 Man Oil once a day. This will ensure that his penis skin is silky smooth and will not be causing you any discomfort. I use this creme and my girlfriend loves it. You can get it online.
