I want to be a VIDEO-CLIP or COMMERCIAL director. What should I study in college? How do I pursue my dream?

I badly want to be a VIDEO-CLIP or COMMERCIAL director, and then maybe go into the movies business (just maybe). I'm currently studying Radio & Television with a minor in Marketing in my local college, nothing too professional.

Where should I continue my education after I finish my B.A degree to gain the SKILLS I need? WHAT should I STUDY?

I know I have to work my way up to it, but what steps and goals do I need to draw for myself to reach the dream I've been longing for?

You have two choices ahead of you:

You can try to enter an MFA in Film program right after graduation, or...

You can move to Los Angeles or New York and try to get a job as a production assistant.

For the requirements for MFA programs, and to see what you need to do in order to qualify, try the New York University and the UCLA websites, just for an idea of what's required by the top film schools in the US. Also look at the programs at Vancouver Film, up in Canada.

I don't think you'll meet the requirements to go right into an MFA program, based on what you're telling me. An option may be to do a post-graduate year at one of those "less prestigious" film schools, like New York Film Institute. These don't have the best rep, but the experience would allow you to build your portfolio. You could then apply for jobs, get more experience, and go from there.

If you chose to move to LA or NYC, first check out the job listings. Production Assistant is often the entry-level job in the film and tv industry. A lot of people do that for a while, then go on to bigger and better things. And you don't have to limit yourself to NYC or LA - there's a lot of tv being made in Orlando, FL, so that may also be an option.

Another option is to stay local to where you are now and try to get a production assistant job at your local tv stations. This wouldn't be film, obviously - it'd be local shows and local news - but it's a good way for you to gain some needed experience that would qualify you for jobs in Los Angeles, or for film school.

If you have a professor who has been in the business, or who knows it well, see if you can talk to them about resources.

i did not watch it, yet i will think of what's in there. i understand this is not ideal in any respect, i don't help the way specific infantrymen take care of Palestinians/Arabs. you will desire to bear in mind that this is not the entire IDF. this is like asserting "Do you think of this Palestinian suicide bomber's habit replaced into ideal?" and then have human beings answer "No way all Palestinians are terrorists!"... could you like that? this is what you're doing right here, and what the solutions are asserting right here. i'm not asserting that I approve of how the warriors taken care of the individuals - under no circumstances. i'm in simple terms asserting you will desire to bear in mind this is not the entire IDF that's that way, in simple terms as not all Palestinians are suicide bombers. you need to learn all the applicable software applications...Final Cut Pro, Quake, Appeture etc...

you need to intern at a production company

you need to start making your own flims

you need to go to a school that specializes in video and DV production...
