Because to reduce pollution would mean reducing their manufacture of the products which cause pollution. This would be unpopular with the voters and politicians would be forced to find alternative employment. The rulers of the USA are not George Bush and his government but WALL STREET.

The USA wants to help lower pollution, but does not want to sign into treaties that are unfair.

The Kyoto accords would have required the US to reduce pollution at a huge cost, but allowed China to do nothing. We are already losing our manufacturing jobs to China, so this would be very bad for US manufacturing, and cost the US even more jobs.

It is not true that the US does not want to help solve the problem with pollution.

One other fact: people now consider carbon dioxide a problem, but actually carbon dioxide is a good gas that helps plants grow. If we lower the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, food production will go down!

The big companies who "own" America says so. That's why. They control us and so does Bush. With the Dems in power now, things should start to change around. In two years, Bush will be out and someone else will be in to help with global warming.

If Americans here disagree with my opinion above, then please watch Al Gore's movie on Global Warming. You'll be amazed and will learn that we can control polution which is causing global warming. It'll only take a little bit from us too and the car manufactures are the worst ones behind it all.
