i've seen them, and my friend has one and her kids VERY happy in them cuz they imitate the womb, and they aren't very stable, u need to get the holder to go with it or hold on to it or they fall over as soon as the baby moves an inch. personally im not gettin once cuz i culdn't stop wettin myself at the sight of a baby in it!
also u can't actually wash the baby in them! they just sit in water. if u do get one i suggests u still get a normal baby bath, or bouncer for in the bath so u can still wash her

We used a tummy tub when our baby was new born and she absolutely adored it. It was no more difficult to use than putting her in a normal baby bath but she enjoyed the sensation of being able to revert to the foetal position. She was a very colicky baby so perhaps that's why she enjoyed it so much. I don't think they are any more dangerous than using a normal bath. After all, you're still going to be holding them, although clearly in a slightly different way than if they were in a standard baby bath. I had back problems at the time as well and I found the way you hold a baby in a tummy tub much more comfortable than in a standard baby bath (regardless of what height the bath is at) because you have their bottom in your hand and their head supported by the crook of your elbow but in a vertical position rather than having the baby at right angles to your body and then leaning over them, which I found extremely painful.

To be frank, if I were you, I would borrow one first because I think that some babies don't mind being in a normal baby bath and the tummy tubs are quite expensive, considering that a new born will grow out of it fairly quickly. We moved her straight from the tummy tub into the adult bath once she was too big for the tummy tub and could support her own head. We then switched to using one of the towelling racks, which she also enjoyed - and which I found easier to use than just supporting her head with one hand.

I'm a mother of 4 and I do not see them being around for very long. They do not support the infant/toddler's neck, so i recommend using a baby tub. The though of water and your infant is scary, especially if it's your first child! So, do not use something that you are uncomfortable with using. The baby tub you put a little bit of (warm) water in it, and wash the baby down and you are done! Plus, it supports the body and neck, and allows you to have a free hand if you need it. Just never leave your infant/baby/toddler alone in the bath tub!

I've seen them but can't say I've been too convinced. They get rave reviews but I can't see them lasting long. I saw one in the shops the other day and I really doubt my 5 month old would fit. Also not sure how good they would be with a newborn's floppy head.

Personally I use a baby bath in the normal bath and she just floats there as I wash over her.

Personally I prefer the cloth cradle on a plastic coated metal frame thing. Wish they had been around when I had mine but my daughter has used them for both hers and they are great. they sit in the baby bath or adult bath and you can strap the baby in. He/she is in the "cuddled" position and you have both hands free to bathe them. You can also get a cut out shaped foam bath support which they lay on in the water.

I have seen them, however it looks much harder to wash baby compared to a conventional baby tub. Also it looks a bit dangerous with a baby that is only a few weeks.

My ten dollar infant tub has lasted through 4 babies and conveninently sets in the sink as well as the tub.

do you mean those ones that are basically a bucket? i saw one in mothercare for £18 and it was basically a bucket! when my son was newborn, i was terrified of bathing him, for my next child im going to get one of those newborn floats that float the baby on top of the water and leave your hands free to wash them. when my son was old enough for a bath seat i went straight out and bought one! a godsend!
