Hi, I currently have NTL broadband and want to go wireless. I have a Fujitsu Siemans laptop, a Linksys WRT54GS-UK 125 Mbps Wireless-G Broadband Router with SpeedBooster and dont have a desktop PC. I was just wondering (as i have been reading through set up instructions for the wireless router) if you need to connect the wireless router to a desktop PC before it will allow me to connect wirelessly with my laptop?

No, you don't need to connect the router to you desktop PC.
Just plug in the internet cable to your modem router.
You might need the USB wireless adapter if your laptop do not have the build-in adapter.

Items needed for this connection:

A wireless modem & wireless network card installed into your laptop.

The wireless router is a moot point. It should be a wired router to you wireless modem.

No! you don't desire a computing device to apply on the spot information superhighway. she would be able to purchase a on the spot router. you will could desire to connect the workstation directly to the router for the 1st configuration of the router. After that she would be able to disconnect the cable from her workstation and then connect employing the on the spot characteristic.
