It depends on how much you are willing to spend and what your partner likes.

Me, I like the simple things. A picnic somewhere quiet with a nice wine and being with the one I love.

Hola amigo
I have posted this idea to a few guys but with any luck you all live in different cities and will never meet so you can say this was your idea.
Send flowers (check to see which ones she likes) and then in your note in the box include a plan for your date! Most girls just want to spend time with you, but then it's nice to have something to remind you of the date from the 15th on... I have used bloom depot before- they have a great selection and they bundle bears and vases with their bouquets. Have fun! Enjoy your date!

Pearls!

You can never go wrong with pearls!

And they need not be expensive.
You can search them online at amazon.com.
They sell all types of pearls at all price ranges and pearls of every color!
My husband bought me a beautiful set of lavender pearl earrings for Christmas, and they are spectacular. They are more of a silver color than purple and they take on the color of whatever I'm wearing....and they only cost 30 bucks!

Pearls of any kind are a perfect gift!
(and not expensive!)

It depends on the person. If they are outgoing, a perfect date with the perfect bottle of wine. If they do not like to go out on v-day (esp.since everything is always crowded) order favorite take-out and buy their fave movie and watch it. You can never go wrong with jewelry. Chocolate isnt nec. a bad thing to get on v-day, some girls dont eat choc. all year and indulge on v-day!

ok, gifts are nice and all...but you know what i reckon most people would really cherish is a beautiful note/card with words from the heart. A hug and a kiss and a reminder of just how much you love them :)
