Celeron processors as mentioned have a 512 KB L2 Cache and a 533MHz bus speed

Pentium 4 with HT processors (cheapest current Pentium) have a 2 MB Cache (2048KB) and an 800MHz Bus speed

Pentium D Dual core processors have dual 2 MB cache and an 800MHz bus speed

Intel Core 2 Duo processors have a 4 MB cache and a 1066MHz bus speed

Intel Core 2 Due Extreme processors have an 8 MB cache and a 1066MHz bus

There are lots of benefits to using a higher quality processor. You definitely get what you pay for with processors.

I dont know why people prefer Intel over Celeron. But I always prefer Celeron becuase there no big difference between celeron and Pentium. Rather Caleron is much cheaper than pentium.

The differences between Celerons and Pentiums are in the bus speed and L2 cache features. Both Pentium-II's and -III's ship with 512kB of secondary (L2) CPU instruction cache. This allows the CPU to store recently used instructions close by and is responsible for much of their high performance.

That's because Celeron is marketed at the low-end.
Despite that, I think Celeron is a good microprocessor for most of the general-purpose computers.
It's only a few kind of applications - like gaming ones - which are resource hungry and Celeron can't handle well.

Celeron processor is a slightly cheaper model with a lot less cache memory which could significantly reduce performance.

its performance is much less than Pentium 4 or Core CPU.
Cache memory is also low.

Investing in celeron is not a good idea.
