Cram democracy down their throats?

You are so sad.

Wars are fought to combat evil. When Liberals act in ways that make waging war on evil difficult, they act to support evil itself.

As a USA vet, I know that our fighting men and women are the best in the world. They are not about to be targets for anybody. Certainly not for the likes of you!

The ironic part is they fight to preserve your life and your right to have a sick philosophy.

It's gonna be five years too late. I've been there, and if we had had enough troops so actually SECURE the place instead of just taking down Saddam, we could have prevented a lot of problems. The strategy now will be:

1- Send more troops

2-Lock down Baghdad and Anbar province

3- Wait 'til violence drops (and it will; sectarian violence always falls when U.S. troops move into a new area. The problem is that we could never cover large areas at any one time)

4-Declare a second victory

5-Get out

6-Watch the country collapse in on itself and become a theocracy and say "dude-everything was O.K. when we left...

There it is. I'll give you each a dollar if this doesn't happen in the next four years. If, of course, congress OK's the surge in the first place.

A lot of the problems with the situation over there, is the fact that they have been treating in like Vietnam. In large part because the first time we went there it was pretty much a cake walk. I would have to imagine that was the reason for not having the right number of troops in the first place. Not to mention, the military was in very poor shape post Clinton. So in the middle of this situation, we are trying to rebuild our defenses as well. I feel if they up the troop numbers, begin to make a proactive effort to win this thing... Not just leave, but leave having done some good for the world... Things will be just fine, it may take another year to 18 months... But by that time things should be in fairly good shape.

Let's face it, We are hated by many, I think that the reason for this is that after WW2 we have become police force to the world, when a cop pulls you over for speeding you call him an ******, but when a thug is breaking into your house it's a different story. We really need to establish democracies in the middle east, due to it's more secular lifestyles Iraq was an obvious first pick. We are still better off fighting these nuts in their homes rather than ours. and ART S. and 4what_it's worth are absolutely right.

if you have a problem with democracy, we don't need you here. Let us hope that 20k more soldiers will make a difference in helping the poor Iraqi people get on track and go on to live the joys of freedom.
