Did quite well really, If you had got it changed at the correct servicing period you would have saved yourself a packet.

This is why the service schedule lays down a time/mileage to change the belt - rubber deteriorates with time as well as use.

i hate to say it but that is about average for a cam belt. been there got the T-shirt.
Apparently you have to change them at 40000 on average . But you have to ask as it is not part of the standard servicing schedule

Because it happens.....thats a little early but cam Belts usually only last 60,000-80,000 miles.

I agree with the others - if you check your service manual it will say change it on the 54K service, probably. I always change mine when I get a second-hand car I don't know the full history for, and then change it after 50K miles.

this is why the manufacturers give you a giudeline on how often to get a service because they know how long it will last

the real prob is running cars with a rubber band.....change at 20-30k....you really wanted to know that eh?
