Try a VERY diluted mix of bleach and water, let it sit, then wash. Or if you dont want to use bleach, try vinegar. let that sit. Make sure that if it has a seal gasket or top that those parts get throughly cleaned as well.

Fill it completely with a 50-50 solution of water and bleach and let it sit overnight. Rinse it VERY thoroughly afterward, and the great majority of the odor should be gone.

Let it soak overnight in a solution of vinegar and water. Use 2 parts water and 1 part vinegar. Close the thermos and let it soak overnight. Rinse well.

If cleaning does not remove this odor, take it apart, you probably have old milk down in the housing.

Try using some baking powder and water in it, let it set for a bit, that should elimate the odor.

If it is a glass lined thermos you may have to disemble it to clean it. requies unscrewing the base so you can get at residue under the gaskets.
