I am looking to buy either an Apple Ipod or a Creative Zen but don't know which ones would be better?
Can you download music onto the creative zen's or is that only for Ipods off I tunes? And can you just download your own cds/tunes onto an Ipod? Which is better? Or should I be buying something totally different? Whatever I get will be bought from Hong Kong.

Can I download tunes/albums that I don't own from internet sites directly to a creative mp3? Like you can with Itunes to an Ipod?

These two are the best choices; but I recommend you the Zen, because:
1. It's cheaper than iPod
2. It has a built in radio
3. It has a built in microphone(voice recorder)
4. It has a line-in recorder(rip your songs directly from CD/DVD/cassette... player)
and so on!
While you have to buy all these separately for an iPod.

And now, among the Zens... I wanted an inexpensive MP$ player; so I got a 2GB Zen V Plus, it really rocks! It supports photos & also videos.

As far as I know, you can't use iTunes for Creative, but there is Zen Cast for it.

For more details, first visit creative.com & ipod.com and then read the reviews about different kind of MP3/4 players in cnet.com

By the way, another good choise can be Microsoft Zune (30 GB), I don't have any information about it, but that's challenger for both creative & iPod, let's see who will win!

I have a 30gig Creative Zen in bright green! It's amazing and much more reliable than an iPod, quick to charge with clear screen for pics and films (yes, sometimes I lie in bed and watch films on it hehe). It's a bit bulkier than the iPod but many people have said to me they prefer my Zen, one bloke in my work even went and bought a zen of his own after having a play with mine!

It comes with a good music player and all that so you can easily transfer all your cds or mp3s or whatever you have onto the player.

It's an A+ mp3 player.

I went through the same as you last Xmas - I went to sites like ebuyer.com and compared actual users ratings for a number of different players.

I bought the Zen because IPod are restrictive, expensive, expensive to repair, batteries are crap, they won't accept WMA format and tunes in WMA are smaller and better quality. You can do anything with the Zen you can do with the IPod and so much more - plus I found the interface much better.

You can download tunes directly, or via your PC (which I found better anyway).

iPod in case you very own a mac, love finding out to purchase songs from the iPod save can stay with out better good factors which includes radio (whether available as an upload-on) and voice recorder (additionally available as an upload-on). maximum suitable interface ever regardless of the incontrovertible fact that. resourceful in case you very own a working laptop or computing gadget, love homestead windows Media participant and springs with tonnes of extra good factors the iPod does not have. this is not precisely as consumer friendly simply by fact the iPod yet battery existence is customarily particularly incredible! individually, i've got owned an iPod, offered it, have been given a Sony Mp3 Walkman with noise cancellation and then offered it and decrease back to the iPod. What does that say? :)

Id go for creative if it was me really becuase i dont like itune and i tend to get my music from other places. But it really depends on the person. creative players tend to thicker and bigger then the new ipods so if you want i nice small thin player go for ipod.

I have an iriver my self which is handy cause i can just drag and drop in music from my computer and not go though all the fuss of loading up something like itunes.

Before I go any further, I must point out that I am completely disreguarding Apple as they are horribly restrictive with their formats and software; you would end up kicking yourself if you got one.

Instead, I recently bought a Toshiba Gigabeat S, which is currently only availible in some countries but this* is where I got it from. The reasons why its better than creative's vision M are that it's smaller and sleeker, it has a widescreen for video veiwing, and it uses 'windows media centre portable' which syncs beautifully with windows media player, linking up your whole library including album art, videos and pictures.

I wholly reccommend it!

finally, there are people who dont find the ipod to be pathetic.
reading replies to previous similar question i thought that people only bought ipods.
i myself would recommend a zen for all the above reasons.
