Hi, i love english and i tried to read as many novels but eventually give up before completing the book. why? i dont understand the setence, you know there's always irony in the novels and we need to read between the lines. how do i develope the ability to interpret sentences? i'm 17 years old and my english is okay except the reading part..

You can try reading poetry, the time requirement is shorter and the formation of concepts around language and (relatively) easier words will help you to eventually put together what you read in a novel.

Go to a lower reading level. 'Uglies' by Scott Westerfield, one of my personal favorites would probably be a good start. Once you master lower reading levels, and feel like you have improved, start those novels again. Any words you don't know, find out what they mean! If you don't get the story, re-read some pages. If it's just too hard, get another book or even ask an adult for help.
