I’m absolutely against the death sentence.
I don’t think that Saddam Hussein has been a good person, everybody knows about the crimes he has committed against his own people.
But on the other hand, I also do believe, that George Bush is a very dangerous and evil man. He didn’t tell the truth to his country - trying to justify the war in Iraq. There never have been chemical weapons and he knew.
He wanted this war and he got “his” war…
Now we know that he played around with the informs of the CIA to justify his war.
This war has destroyed Iraq more than having Sadan Hussein in the power. The people have now less peace, less hope, less privacy and less human rights than before. There is much more hunger and death...
But who cares? As long as George Bush can play his war game and obtain his benefits from petrol...
Do you really think that the American government cares about the common people living in Iraq? They don’t do!
They pushed the country into a terrible situation even before the war with their politics of the embargos...
Maybe we will see the hanging of Mr. George Bush by next Christmas day! Would be more than fair, due to the fact, that the execution of Sadam Hussein has been taken place on a very important religious date for all Muslims.
Don’t you think that this is a clear offense for all Muslims in the world and all the Arabian countries in general?
It’s enough with murdering people! The American system is totally rotten!! Talking about freedom and peace, claiming to be the leader of the western world and still having the death sentence? This is paradox!!
By the way, how many soldiers is dying each day in Iraq?? They are killing their own sons and daughters there!! What for?? For having a cheap access to petrol!!
I would like to remember that George Bush is also a dictator as he did not even win the last elections - they counted the votes once and once again until they said that Bush was the winner. Finally they found out that actually Gore has won the elections - but it was too late... Isn’t that the behavior of a dictator??? I do think so.
And at last: being dead and murdered Sadam Hussein is more dangerous than ever!! Now they he’s a "martyr" and they will commit suicide attacks in his name...
... More blood, more tears...
Poor Iraq!! What has the western world done to this country? I feel, that there is something wrong in our heads: We se cruelty and misery and don’t mind... we switch to another channel. We see an execution of a Death sentence and we even have to ask ourselves if it´s right or wrong... We’re no god... we are not allowed to decide over life or death...
And if we do we are as guilty as Sadam Hussein is... of course he should have paid for his crimes but in a different way...
I think I’m speaking out what many people think and it doesn’t matter if you´re Hindu, Christian, Muslim or Jewish... a dead sentence is always wrong!!!

Ok, on paper, it wasn't our (America's) decision. Of course, anyone with any logic would realize that it was probably 99% our desicion to execute Saddam.

I think that it was wrong - that the Iraqi people should have done it themselves, after the US leaves Iraq, with no other influences in the decision.

I guarantee you that if Iraq decided he was innocent, and to let him go free, the U.S. would have not allowed it. So, someone tell me how it wasn't our decision? I mean, if you really are under the impression that Iraq isn't currently just an American puppet government, you need to get yourself some logic.

If you are talking about his execution, it was not the US that executed him---it was the Iraqi government. It may come back to haunt the US an Iraq. Saddam was not a young man and probably did not have much longer to live anyway; so, why not sentence him to life and let him die naturally in prison? We could have left him alone in the first place and he would have been overthrown by now without having to destroy the entire nation of Iraq and alienate the whole world against us. Bush's foreign policy has been a complete failure. The '08 election will show this.

there is no right or wrong answer to this question. but personally i think it sends a message to dictators around the world that the US will not put up with injustice to humanity. im not sure if the war was justified by capturing and executing saddam hussain, but it seems like it needed 2 be done. he was a ruthless dictator and he deserved what he got.

Very right...at least his lifetime victims got some justice...Plus all these small nations dictarors that over abuse their people are put on notice that no body is above the law...soon or later you will have to answer and pay for your crimes that you done during your lifetime. The only sad thing was that only one rope got used during the hanging...If 2 ropes got used during the execution...I think the people will loved it a lot more.

wow so that was bush in the mask who put the rope around Saddam's neck?

Wait it wasn't? it was an Iraqi!!!

Didn't you just claim the US did it?

Look it was the Iraqi people who did Saddam in. No matter how you try to spin it.

Before people make him this huge Martyr remember the man was a murderer and was justly punished by the people he oppressed and tortured for years.

not to defend the US or anything (I am usually very critical of the US), but it actually was NOT the US that sentenced Saddam to death. It was the Iraqi court system.

For the record, I am opposed to the death penalty. But the Iraqis are not, and it was a fair trial.

you mean to hang him? wrong probably - its much too late! Hanging a sick, sad old man that should have been done years ago or forget it. What was the point? Just lock him up, with patronising Bible teaching classes, craft classes, and self - reflection teachings on what hatred and anguish and terror his dictatorship caused, and leave him to rot.
