So, assuming there was some way to enforce this scenario and you and your husband could not have to pay taxes, would you agree to become the breadwinner and have him become househusband? This would be an extreme situation. He would be required to do EVERYTHING. He would also be required to wear an apron (manly one ok)

Yes, I think this would be a sweet deal. Even with taxes, I wouldn't require him to do everything (just a reasonable job). I wouldn't require him to wear an apron either. That would be heaven. Thanks for asking.

No, guys just can't handle this job (has nothing to do with taxes, or who is working or anything). Running the house and dealing with the kids is too complex for the male mind to do; they just don't have all the synapses. Women can multi-task, balance many, many things at the same time, and a man just cannot. That is not to say a man can't take good care of his children, or do household chores, but it's just handling everything together and organizing the family just cannot be done.

What kind of question is that? House spouses need to get jobs and stop being so lazy. We all have to cook and clean whether or not we work. If I could live tax free, I'd still be wondering why my lover would want to sit around most of the day. Infact, I'd be rather disappointed in either himself or myself if either of us became a house spouse. Actually, I'd probably take myself to the psychiatrist if I found myself as a housewife. Oh pleaase.

I agree with Nanny. Men are not wired to do housework, nurture kids and spend hours in shopping malls. I know what would happen, he would spend the tax cut and I would end up doing the housework anyway.

why do you ask this question as if it was a scenario that is just so totally out there?...PLENTY of families have Dad at home looking after the house and family whilst Mum is at work as the main breadwinner..how could you not know this fact?

Why in hell would he have to wear an apron. I don't. Hey if he would take on all the household chores show me the bread and I will win.
