Bernie Taupin is a very famous one who wrote the lyrics to many of Elton John's hits, including Your Song.
Pete Brown wrote lyrics for Cream, including songs like Sunshine of Your Love, World of Pain, and many more.

Dennis Linde, he wrote several pop tinged country songs a few years ago, such as Goodbye Earl by the Dixie Chicks, If Bubba Can Dance by Shenandoah, Bubba Hyde by Diamond Rio, and Hold On Elroy by Dude Mowrey. Keith Stegall was also a good one, he wrote and produced for Alan Jackson.
