Tonight there is a debate at the Houses of Parliament about the Sexual Orientation Regulations (to give gay/lesbian people equal rights for hotel/restauarnt/bar service etc). The Lawyer's Christian Fellowship are going to protest outside.
Gay people are going along to protest against the protest!!
Please come along if you can so that we can get this very important piece of law.
People are starting to congregate from 5pm.

It is important as these regulations will mean that gay/lebians will be treated equally. We will not be refused a hotel room, a table in a restaurant etc just because we are gay.
We need to show that there are equal if not more people who want/need these regulations than crazy religious people who dont want them.

At the moment gay/lebsian people can be refused services such as a hotel room, a drink in a bar, a table in a restaurant etc just because they are gay/lesbian and it is prefectly legal

Immortal - it has nothing to do with being able to marry in churches. If this law does come in, it will not change the current legislation on civil partnerships. Get your facts right.

What it really comes down to, is whether the churces and faiths are above the law, or subject to it.

An interesting one, since the Queen is the supreme bishop, who has to uphold matters of faith AND matters of law, as supreme head of state.

I suppose the next step will be an appeal to Brussels on the basis that human rights/freedom of expression/ the right to religious observance have all been violated.

Then the EU will pass it back to the UK, and the fun starts all over again.

Of course, the people of the Netherlands have had these laws for years, and their society hasn't yet collapsed.

Quite why religious people feel that they should meddle in political matters is beyond my comprehension, but they do. Perhaps democracy does not appeal to them, just as it doesn't appeal to the good cattholics of Poland, where gay people have been subject to violent persecution and prosecution, with barely a word of protest from the Vatican.

God spare us from religion!

Now I know why Jesus wasn't religious.

Israel broke the ceasefire - i hate those professional israelis brainwashing people who're independent throughout this occasion. Im telling you a certainty that each and each intelligence company is elementary with that its the zionists (israel) who provoked an attact. The Zionists are actually advancing and winding up ethical cleansing to wipe out the palestinians with a view to slowly get land. they're actual killing them off, because of the fact the palestinians wont budge from their place. do somewhat study people.... there have been a hundred,000 people. All scattered yet close. The media dosnt want people to be attentive to how a lot of people there have been because of the fact that is going to provide the impact that the rally became sucsessful and can entail extra protesters again mutually. Politics is a interest the place you sell your soul to the devil.

Thanks for raising this important issue and I wish you all the best with your protest against the homophobic 'Christians' who say that God loves all. Unfortunately I can't attend but no doubt Outrage will be there to support you.

Well sense has prevailed and the bigots and homophobes have been beaten. The law against discrimination of gays is to go ahead. As Peter Tatchell so rightly said "It is hypocrisy and double standards. They (the religious right) want the law to give them privileged protection and for gay people to be treated as second-class citizens."

Hmmm, I didn't realize that England had homosexuality issues like America does. But then again there's still alot of countries that don't have gay marriage or civil union legally.

Can't, we kinda have an ocean between the U.S. and U.K. that wouldn't allow me to protest with you. Good luck on getting that law passed. Not that it would mean a whole lot, but I'll be rootin' for ya.

Why i would protest against this law is because this will meen that my church wont have the right to say no to marry you!! They then wont be able to refuse to marry you, and im sorry, but this is just really wrong!! i agree with service in hotels and so on.... but not by the law telling churches they cant refuse to marry you!! I will be there - but voting against this!!
