A warning device (horn) on a road vehicle in the UK must be clearly audible, and of a single tone or no more than two different tones sounding simultaneously i.e. it must not alternate between different tones.
In other words, multi-toned ones are illegal...

Illegal except on vehicles registered before I think 1982. Multi horns that sound together so as to give a single blast are ok as fitted to most trucks

Air horns are ok but Multitone horns must all blat together. Playing tunes is absolutely illegal and will attract a big fine and penalty points.
Quite right too. Having and using them is antisocial and brain-dead.

Multitone airhorns are legal. Multitone klaxons are illegal except for emergency vehicles.
You are only allowed to use the horn as an audible warning of approach. So if you have a set of horns that plays a tune, it's usually illegal to use them.

Yes they are illigal to use on the Public highway, However they can be used on private land, if its the only horn on your vehilce you WILL fail the MOT, so make sure if you do fit one it is an extra to the normal horn. Some Police Forces have organised Car Cruses, Weston S Mare for example, when off road many of the cars have them

Yes they are, i've been stopped twice and prosecuted once for my Dukes of Hazard one that i bought over in the States. I like to play it when overtaking someone at speed, its good for a laugh, but if you do that, dont do what i did, DONT play it whilst overtaking an unmarked Ford Mondeo police car - they have no sense of humour at all.
