I have a 2001 Toyota Corolla LE, Can someone reccomend which brand alternator that I should buy? I've read that I should not buy a cheap remanufactured alternator ($95.99) because people say that they just don't last! So what exactly should I look for? People have said that with a remanufactured alternator you never really know who even remanufactured it. Do you guys think I'd be safe to purchase a remanufactured alternator from Advance Auto Parts? Still the question remains...what brand and what to look for...someone please help me here.

Well here is the thing, I don't think any rebuilt alternator is worth a crap anymore. I would look at warranty, lifetime is very important, but at the same time think that if you buy cheap even with a lifetime warranty you may be replacing it once a year or every other year. My dad bought an off brand cheapo with lifetime warranty for his cavalier and it died 3 times in 2 years. Then he convinced them to credit him on it and bought an AC delco which has been on the car for over 6 years now. I would at least buy the midgrade alternator personally.

I have purchased a few different alternators from Advance Auto Parts. The rebuilt Palladium alternators are very good and have a lifetime replacement warranty. They are rebuilt by the worldwide company and the warranty is good all over the USA. Good enough for me. Hope I have been helpful.
