on our college graduation ceremony, a song will be played when they call out our name and while we shake hands with professors, director, etc. and receive the diploma. i want something upbeat with nice lyrics. nothing sad or formal. this is brazil and we are not formal or uptight at all... (: oh and please no graduation song by vitamin C!!!! lol thanks guys

I would say take your pick from any Kirk Franklin song. You're guaranteed nice lyrics, and inspiration with an upbeat feel.
But that song that song that Beyonce sang in Dreamgirls, is appropriate too. Especially on that part of the ceremony. You don't want the audience dancing and clapping while the ceremony is proceeding.
Still I Rise, is another great one, by Whitney Houston or Yolanda Adams. I forgot which one, but it's the perfect song. Lyric wise, and tune wise.

How about Ode to Joy, being played softly. I would think that words to a song would distract the audience from being able to hear the names being announced.
