The PS3 has many problems playing all the older titles from PS1 and PS2, however it uses Blue ray which may (or may not) become a new dvd system.. and you would have a system that can play blue ray dvd's without having to buy a new dvd player- should they become popular.
Xbox 360 has great graphics and has had time to release a few more titles than the 20 or so games that are out for the other systems. However, you never know how good a system will do when it's been released prior to a long awaited system which was just released (ps3 and wii). Look at how Sega dreamcast did against ps2.
Nintendo Wii is a new venture of gaming. I think its great and looks like alot of fun, but sometimes I jsut want to relax and sit quietly on the couch to play a game.. this is not at all possible if im swinging my arms around. Nintendo Wii is japans way of telling America to go to the gym.
Overall- If you have the money, buy whichever you feel will bring the games and gameplay experience to you. I am normally a PS fan because they have the best RPG type games, which are my favorite. But now I hear rumors that (for example) Final Fantasy 13 is coming out on on more than one system.
If I had to choose.. I'd wait for the next big thing..

Brendi hit the nail on the head here!
I have a 360 and its awesome, the Wii is meant to help get kids up of their lazy asses - lol
The 360 will have an influx of games in the next few months and most of the Sony titles are being done for the 360!
The PS3 is overpriced and if you read the tech stuff, it does not perform as well as the 360. Plus the HDD addon is now available for the 360 so it will play High Def movies too (like the PS3 does). The 360 is a lot cheaper and atm has more support!
I have my 360 on a High Def projector and play the games 10foot wide 6foot high on the wall, its awesome :)
If you want more advice or to see what else the 360 does come to my forum at www.eagletec.co.uk where we teach people how to stream movies from PC's to you 360, and give game reviews, help etc etc :)
We also supply 360's with BUNDLES, let me know if your interested :)
Added:
forgot to mention that because the 360 had a Media Centre Extender built in you can watch TV on it too, from a PC with a tuner card, you can watch your ebay items, record & pause live TV and much more - simply stunning! Beat that PS3 :p

We have the Nintendo Wii I would recommend it for family use but not really for people who like playing games on the xbox or ps2.
We also have an xbox 360 and plan to get a ps3 when it eventually comes out . All i can say is boys and their toys and get off your butts and help clean up the house more lol

hm, the Wii is very good, especially with motivation, but it does lack the games that can be played as well as with the PS3 and X-box like football for example. How they will chalenge that will be very interesting.
The PS3 graphics is a lot more advanced than that of the Xbox 360, shown by the army using it for advanced simulation. If your used to the buttons of the X box360 or vice versa, then get the one that you are most used to.
Hope this helps!
Jordan
P.s i would personally say the PS3 or Wii, but the PS3 more, when it comes out

I'm getting the WII when its back in stock because although the x-box 360 is brilliant it cost too much for what it is and the PS3 is just a copy of the wii and x-box 360 but with a Sony logo. The wii is cheap and cheerful

I think id buy the WII it looks pretty fun and the PS3 doesnt seem to have very many good games out now they will in about 6 months Devil May Cry 4 and Tekken 6 and of course Grand Theft Auto will probaly go PS3 first. But ill probaly wait on the PS3 til they become more available and maybe a price break 600 bucks now.
Screw Microsoft!!

I have had a xbox 360 since its launch, it fantastic, the online gaming is so much fun and you can make new friends (vet the rooms if children are going online) Its not just a games console it is also a media centre, you can stream your music and photos etc from you pc to your xbox and listen/view on your tv screen.
10/10 for the 360

I just had a conversation about this the other day with my hubby and my brother. My husband has the new 360 and the wii, and my brother has all three. If you are a kid, then get the wii. If you are an adult, get the 360.
