Depends what you broke... and how much you'll pay.

If the disk isn't what broke, you can pull it out, get an adapter for a few $/£ and put it in your desktop. Or you can buy a USB case for it and run it by USB from your new laptop. Just make sure the desktop / laptop can understand the filesystem (so if the laptop was XP don't use a win95 desktop... it won't understand the disk format).

Or you can get the laptop repaired.

If the disk is what broke you can pay a data recovery company... but they charge lots and lots... last quote I had was lots and lots of £ per megabyte retrieved.

depends whats wrong with it - if its the hard drive then your music and photos are gone forever (AAAAAH this happened to me a few weeks back.....) but if you dont know how to fix it, take it to a professional, sometimes they can fix it and retrieve SOME of your stuff. I suggest you back up your info (yes I learnt the hard way...sigh....I totally feel your pain man!!!)

as long as the hard disk ok, then you can retrieve it as you want..
just open your laptop if you didnt have any warranty, if you have, dont open it by yourself.. then use the usb to ide(laptop which you have to buy) wire then copy all the files you want in other ccomputer.. chill out..

Probably.
It depends on how it is broken.

If the hard drive is still functional a repair shop can get the data off for you.
