There is no proof, just because the starting point is just an arbitrary white stone. In the Gregorian calendar maybe, today is the date you say. But what about - I just restrict myself to christianity - the Julian calendar ? Christmas is the 7th of January for some orthodox Russians for example) because they don't accept the Gregorian reform (remember, 13 days were "skipped" or lost, which gave way to lots of fantasies and esoteric stories).
A date is just a convention, Muslims, Chinese etc. do not refer dates to our calendars and they are right doing so!

What does "Tuesday the 8th of January in the year 2007" mean?

Does what "Tuesday the 8th of January in the year 2007" hold or not? The days, dates and years are a conventional way of naming periods of time. That would make "Tuesday the 8th of January in the year 2007" MEAN "the day commonly called Tuesday the 8th of January 2007 so called because of a commonly agreed system"

Now:
- Is it commonly called Tuesday the 8th of January in the year 2007?
- Does this derive from a commonly agreed system?

If yes, then its proved. If no, then its not.

[edit] A quick point on the answers arguing that in other systems the day has other dates and it cannot be proved that this system is "right". It need not be proved that this system is "right" - the question asked us to prove that a day was a certain date NOT to disprove that it was any other date. If we wish to be clear we can assign a number of dates to a day merely adding which system we are using after each date. This is used when writing histories of periods when the system has changed eg the Revolutionary period in Russia. Writers will usually specify two dates for each event - one on the "old" and one on the "new" system.

A fact is a reality accepted by majority of the public rather a publicly accepted reality. However, it may not be a true reality. Therefore, because it is a fact, circulated as a calendar, enforced from last two thousand years, otherwise Robinson Crusoe on that island may be seeing a different day, date and the year.
Remember 8th January 2007 was Monday according to the standard Gregorian Calendar.
So if you want to prove that it is Tuesday. Be a Robinson Crusoe, go to an island, and tell yourself that 8th January 2007 in Tuesday.

The best way to prove it would be to try and prove that its not the 8th of January, if you are unable to do that then you have yourself the proof that it is actually the 8th of January. As for me I don't recognize dates and years or even hours or minutes any longer. I have freed my mind of the restrictions of time. So for me it could never be the 8th of January 2007. Just as time is a concept created by human kind, human kind can erase that concept in the mind.

Tuesday the 9th but it is a different date depending on the calendar you are using. I hate to go there, seeing you are confused enough with the Gregorian.

PS In some areas of the world, right now it is already Wednesday the 10th.

You can't. The Georgian calender is only one of several calenders used in the world, and it is just a shared belief. Time is the only constant. We share in believing its start at a certain point. It could just as easily be the 37 of Drog, 7713. It gives us a convenient frame of reference
