it is two sided, on one side there is the star of david with a snake circled around it with twelve symbols which I think relate to judaism or witchcraft. On the other side there is a large horseshoe inside of which is a long cross with two sevens, a two of clubs , a four leaf clover , a cross with a loop, and a rounded X.
I have had this medallion? for over 15 years and have allways hit a dead end when trying to find out about it. I do not know what metal iit is or what year it was made, and would desperately like to know these things and if it worth anything, or where I could take it. PLEASE HELP!!!

It's a talisman of some kind. I would say by the back, it is a good luck charm. Seems someone didn't want to take a chance and put all the good luck symbols they could think of on it. You may actually never find an answer for items like this pop up all the time and there is little to go by. It could have been made during the roaring 1920's through the hippie 1960's. The obverse may have something to do with the Jewish Kabbalah, which is a form of Jewish mysticism. You will have to do some research on your own here. There are websites that have photo's of Jewish talismans as well as seals. Seals were used as charms also. it looks like one side is towards Judaism the other more Christian. So I guess "the games afoot Watson!" Use Google and Yahoo search engines look under talismans, seals and charms and don't forget Kabbalah. Good luck

Try a museum, if possible one that specialises in coins or similar. Take a good photo of it to show them, that way you will not loose it while wandering around trying to find an expert.

a coin collector may be able to help, or at least point you into the right direction. also you may want to ask the person who gave it to you where they got it and try to trace it back to where it was bought.
