well.. its our God given right to own and bear guns..Its nice piece of hardware and our country was ruled by the gun up until a few years ago.. some say that rule was a bad idea to take away from places..Because of bad people .In the old days if you were a good person and wandered into town people would take you in and treat you good and if you were a bad person they had ways of dealing with you .. and now there is so much red tape and you have to do this and that and the laws and the laws that break the laws ..most people think that the rule of the gun discouraged violence ..they knew they could be the next shot..Actually its in declaration of independence that we would always have the right to bear arms..Actually its fun to own a piece of history and to be able to admire the craftsmanship and beauty of such a piece of hardware. Its fun to competion shoot and to just plink around with an old tin can and just a national heritage that we have fallen back on knowing that the gun was what protected settlers from hostiles ...meaning other settlers too and also robbers and then you could go out and shoot fresh dinner ,they couldn't run to the store or burger king so it made them feel good to provide fresh meat to their familites much like the aborigines that lived here about there blow guns, bows and arrows and knives and spears just more or less tradition more than anything.

I used to hate guns like the most far-left liberal, but believe me, a gun gives you a world of options.
The right to bear arms is supposed to keep citizens at the same level as the government- law enforcement in particular. The theory is that if they ever start to behave unfairly and oppressively, we'll be able to defend ourselves. It's a bit of an extreme point of view, but believe me, when you own a firearm, you feel just as powerful as anyone in any uniform, and in some ways you might be.
A gun also gives you other options. It takes a long time to prepare certain things, but a gun is all together.

GOD, Guns and Guts were the three elements which allowed Americans to gain their freedom and then conquer the Indigenous Peoples. without Guns the Indigenous People would have defeated the Europeans as there were more of them.
As others have said without firearms a person is a slave to the government and when firearms are in the hands of the people they are citizens. no government can take weapons from the hands of a citizen by knocking on their front door.

It's "THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS" that we defend, we have the right to own a gun, It was put in place by our forefathers to keep the public armed in case of a dictatorship taking over the country, it gives the citizens the RIGHT TO OVERTHROW a dictatorship. It's NOT like we are all walking around with side arms locked and loaded, that's Illegal in most states (NOT ALL), and you need a permit, otherwise you get arrested. We defend the right to carry them because, the first thing a dictatorship government does is remove all the weapons from the citizens, so that there is no resistance to the new Government.... Look at Germany removing all of the guns from the public back in the 1930's, just before Hitler took over. When our country was new and fledgling, the British tried to oppress and kill the new "Colonist" that was going against the crown, the "Minute men" were a bunch of farmers who defended our new country, when the british showed up in force to slap around the UNARMED "Colonist", and cave in his face with there rifle butts while kicking in his door searching for contraband in front of his wife and family, the "Minute Men" were there in a "MINUTE" with their guns to pluck off the british "Sniper style" from the woods, dropping them like flies, and these boys had GREAT aim, and BALLS..... THATS WHY ! and they wrote that one down, "No kicking in doors" without a "search warrant" ! It's now the LAW !

I can tell you. Evil people have them to kill, hurt and threaten good people. Good people have them to do away with evil people. So called "police protection" is a farce. Good people must be able to protect themselves from criminals. You can not expect that calling 9-1-1 is going to help you. This is what is called "taking the law into your own hands." Self defense. Criminals can only talk and think with weapons. They have no intelligence, and no respect for life other than their own loser lives. I am going to buy a gun for protection. Baseball bats are not enough these days anymore. The justice system does not do justice for victims, they only coddle criminals. If you want to protect yourself, you need to start somewhere. If I am going to go down, so is the thug who began the whole thing.

We are not obsessed with gun ownership we are obsessed with the right to gun ownership. It is called the second amendment to the constitution and we like it just like it is. I do not own any weapons but I will fight to the death your right to have a gun. See the difference.

It comes down to the American theory of government. People are born with the right to own anything they want. The government takes away rights by regulating things, hopefully keeping people from damaging the rights of others with unregulated blank more than the government is damaging their rights by regulating it.
Since people feel a firearm allows a person to assert their rights quite effectively, they see no reason why the government should attempt to take the right to a firearm away. When I get my citizenship, I am buying a giant gun, insha'Allah

Because if we are not allowed to possess arms we will not be able to protect ourselves against a tyranical government as we were able to do when leaving Brittain for the privilege to worship God as the heart dictated. It's called freedom and the assurance of knowing if needed, law and order could be restored. The only problem is when they get into the wrong hands. Most Americans are trained to be responsible in gun usage and love to hunt game. Fishing poles aren't outlawed so why should guns be? Guns are for protection against animals in many farm and wilderness areas as well as to protect herds/flocks from predators. I feel safer knowing our law enforcement officers carry guns and our military as well. People would likely riot and wicked men would take over our streets without them. So, between them and the Lord's protection, I don't think I need one except I would like to be rid of the occassional 'coon and possum!

Our Bill Of Rights consist of the first ten amendments to our Constitution the first one encompasses the right to religion, assembly, the press, speech, and to petition the government with grievances. The second amendment is the right to bear arms. They placed the first as such because our founding fathers felt them important, and without the second how will we defend the first when the **** hits the fan(like the blind refuse to see it doing now)

Are we? I have never touched a gun in my life. I don't hear much about guns except on here from Europeans asking about Americas and their guns. And I'm from Texas. I think it might be a stereotype?
Although occasionally I see bumper stickers about guns.
But they're usually on the back of over sized pick up trucks with those radicals types at the steering wheels.
