No there is no restricton on RAM,you can put as much ram as you want just the need is that you would have to put more ram plugs additionolly. For your Pc,If you are a regular gamer or a frequent big sized file downloader,512 is best. If you go to buy it,be sure to check whether your Pc supports a DDR ram,If not, you'll have to buy a Pc ram.DDR ram's are just additional. If not DDR, you might have to put 2 -256 mb rams.good luck and a happy new year.

Microsoft requires a minimum of 128MB of RAM for WinXP. You can run WinXP with 64MB but its operation will be significantly limited in that some functions may either be unavailable or run slowly.
However most knowledgeable users recommend at least 512MB for efficient operation and, these days, 1 GB is common.
The requirements and recommendations for systems running WinXP are essentially independent of hard disk size and the type of processor.

The exterior Random get entry to memory force you're concerning is meant as storage drives. the really thanks to praise Ram memory is with digital memory. digital memory is nicely troublesome force memory dispensed to act as Ram memory. The downfall of digital memory is that it's going to not be accessible by the CPU as Ram memory and may want to easily decelerate the device.

It depends upon the software you want to use. For general work 256 MB is enough but if you want to use more of graphics / games 1 GB will be required.

generally its whatever the board can tolerate. unless your doing some very high tech gaming for practical purposes a gig will handle pretty much whatever your going to throw at it...and if your doing anything whacked out with an open checkbook then my suggestion is to get out of the pentium three and get into a gamer for whatever you need it to do.
