Why aren't there any black people or women featured on American currency or US bank notes?

In Australia we have women and Aborigines on our money. Pioneering women from the 1800's and Aboriginal artists, farmers and feminists and black civil rights activists from the 1950's.

Why doesn't America put Rosa Parkes on their money as a sign of respect now that she's dead?

Because we have not had any black people that qualify to be on the bills. Not to say we have not had black people that have done good for America, but there have been none that have been president and so on. I'm not saying it's the fault of the black people for not being president. You can bet that our 1st black president will be memorialized on a bill of some type.

Most of the currency was designed back in the day when anybody not lilly-white was considered inferior. The last new currency I know of was the Sacajawea (sp) 'Gold Dollar' a few years ago. Now there's no excuse other than racism to honor some famous or high-achieving person of color...


PS for those saying only Presidents are on money, besides Sacajawea there's also the Susan B. Anthony dollar coin.

well there are- but only on special edition coins (I'm pretty sure there's a Susan B. Anthony quarter...)
But the reason that there isn't anybody on standard currency other than white males is because there haven't been any non-white male presidents.
