when u turn ur steering wheel the front wheels turn at an angle to the direction of the car motion. This creates friction with the road surface that drags the car away from the straight line motion. This friction force simultaneously generates a recactive force. These two form the pair of centrifugal and centripetal forces.

Centripetal force is the name given to the force that causes acceleration that is always towards the centre or we can say that it is directed always towards the centre. Now it does not come from outside but is present in the system.
For eg in case of a car turning or a curve, the centripetal force can be provided by the frictional force generated between the tyres and the road. There can be other factors.
In case of planets revolving around the Sun, the centripetal force is provided by the Gravitational force of the Sun.
Therefore the name Centripetal force is given to the force that acts towards the center. It may be any other force.
