Players - Players are selected primarily on the basis of their current form. The team will be the 11 best players in their particular roles who are performing best at the current time of team selection.
Selection can also be dictated by conditions. If a pitch is fast, more pace bowlers will be picked. If it is a turning pitch, or one that will wear quickly, more spinners will be picked.
Bottom line is - the selection panel will decide the structure they want for the team for that particular match - i.e. the types of players they want - and will pick the best 11 according to that.
Board - much like the boards of businesses. Members are nominated for positions and then the members will vote for the candidate they want to take that position.

the selection process is not very clear and is not revealed to the lay man. It is guarded between the board rooms...
But if u perform very well in the local cricket, then definitely there will be a call for you...
