I think it's because Amitabh Bachchan has 40 years of popularity to draw upon. Aamir, Shah Rukh and Salman have only a little more than a decade. In India, the old things are always better. The old movies, the old actresses, the old directors, the old actors, etc. I've heard it time and again from older people how the stars and movies of yesterday are so much better than the ones of today, they are incomparable.

we can't really consider anyone THE BEST!
coz everybody have thier own point of view..
and yes...
some ppl (mostly old) are really affectionate towards amitabh coz they r watching him from few decades...as there was no other hero in film industry.lol
and some ppl also like amitabh coz their parents like him...!
but one more fact is,
that shahrukh has more fans than tom cruise!
and of the answer which is given by simran...is not really good!
i mean SHE ALMOST SAID MAD TO QUARTER A WORLD!

Some of amitabh fans hate shahrukh coz they have some kind of insecurity that shahrukh will just let amitabh go out of the bollywood by showing his talent....
but he has no such intention!
and even shahrukh dosen't want to compare himself with BIG B ........

if you do the maths,
I guess AB did more movies than total of Amir, Shahrukh and Salman!
One Big B is worth the triple Khans!
AB can pull off any performance,
anything any of the Khans can do now,
well, he already did - and better.
Besides, he is the one who has been around for decades -
the public sees him as part of their own family now!

amitabh bachan's popularity is higher than amir, shahrukh and salman , cos he has been in the acting indutry for longer and has neva done anything wrong against other, unlike salman, who got drunk etc and killed loads, his popularity status went down, Sharukh Khan - dont know bout him, but to me its pretti high, second to Bachan man, cos obviously Bachan more older, and Amir Khan, well obvioulsy, he has neva done that much movies - rumours say he only does one each year, gets dosh and feeds off it, which i think is pretty good, espec that he is doing the right thing - oh and i have not yet seen a dirty movie wiv Bachan or Amir or Sharukh, unlike Salman, i have seen some down rite dirty **** wiv him in!

Can't you differentiate it by urself.. It is His personality, his way of walking, delivering a dialoge everything is different..
Just watch him in any award ceremony, they way he does anything is really diffrent. Even at this age he is quite stylish. Nobody can ever beat his style. He is very consious about his public appearence. Just watch him in Kaante. He is simply great.
By the way, do u know in Bollywood every aspirant actors during their training, they are shown a walking scene of Amitabh from the film Deewar in a hotel corridor, becuase many actors finds it difficult to give a walking scenes comfortably in front of camera.

amitabh bachans popularity is higher because he is legend and he's a star from almost 30 years and amir, Sharukh and salman are star from on 15-20 years so amitabh bachan gets more money and amir, Sharukh and salman get less so amitabh bachans popularity is more and amir, Sharukh and salman popularity is less

i think dj don has gone mad as it is all srk fan are mad sorry to say that as all srk fans are like srk i.e arrogant anyways AMITABH is more popular becoz he is talented he can do any kind of roles he is the only actor who can do all kinds of role like comedy, action, romantic and right now role in BLACK no one can do like he did and he is kind hearted always helpful and no star tantrums like others.
