I'm looking into a spring-loaded stripper pole to get for my Fiance for our anniversary. It doesn't say but I want to know if it can actually hold your body wieght. (I'm 5'3" and 130) I live in an apartment and can't install one so this is my only option. BUT if all I can do is dance around it, I can just use my lamp, not a $200 piece of metal.
I'm seriously asking. If you are going to be judgmental, don't bother answering.

No. If you are looking to do tricks, the pole should be bolted into the ceiling. Some companies offer friction mounting as an alternative to screwing the pole into a joist, but specify that high impact will cause the pole to lose stability. This means any move that requires a running start or heavy swinging could result with a broken neck. Neck braces are not very attractive.

I live in an apartment too, and own a Lil Mynx. It requires only one screw in the ceiling (most require three, in the floor as well) and the rubber base won't ruin the carpet, or slip on tile. Just fill the hole with Spackle or even white toothpaste when you move. Lil Mynx is easy to install, only $229 for an original model, and comes with a warranty if bought directly from the company.

Another option is a stage pole from Platinum Stages. The pole is attatched to a mini stage, and does not bolt to the ceiling or floor. It's very sturdy. I wouldn't recommend it for moves that require much climbing, or to be used in a home with low ceilings.

Whatever you chose to do, stay away from Peekaboo. It is the worst pole, and is marketed for prancing only -- so much as leaning on the pole will cause it to fall.

Good luck.

If installed properly I have heard they can be the bestest thing to have. Personally at 5'11" and 210, I don't think it is something I would try plus if I fell I know my husband would move out the way first :-). Enjoy!!!!!

Wow - that would be so embarrassing if it didn't - hope it works out. I would definitely not try to hang upside down on it though. More power to ya girl. I can assure you that he will like the present.
