the cycle ? just add it to the water... if its the cycle brand you cant overdose on it... but it will make your water cloudy for a few weeks probably... if its any other brand make sure to watch not to overdose,,, use cycle .. you can get it at petsmart... its the safest one and it works the best...

I believe you are talking about that bacteria that you buy ready or whatever, if you are, then you need to put the beneficial bacteria in your filter media, like the sponge, this way the water has to pass through the sponge, and beneficial bacteria before going into your tank.

It doesn't matter if the filter is working they will get in the filter and gravel. They need to be in both places.

Don't put bacteria in its a waste of money. I'll sell you my tank sludge for 25 bucks! No really let it cycle on its own.

i owned an aquarium for a while. i don't remember anything about bacteria. i don't even know why you would need that. all i needed was some water treatment, some rocks for the filter and i was set.

I think you need to start over from the begining hun. Bacteria forms in your tank it isn't something you put into it.
