I'm happily married with 3 wonderful children. We're all healthy and make enough money to live. I already AM the happiest person alive.
ADDED LATER: Reading all of these posts is also making me feel so alive with the human spirit. What a great question!

You are not going to get one universal answer to this type of question. "Happy" is different things to different people. It is all in your perception I don't think how long you live has anything at all to do with how happy you are. If you are 7, and the most important thing to you is going to Disney World and meeting Mickey Mouse, the chances if you die at 7 1/2 after hugging Mickey, you are going to have had, in your eyes, a great life. If you are 100 and have never left your home, never had more interaction with someone other than them giving you food and water I would dare to say you had not been happy at all. To me, being happy is living everyday to the fullest. Doing things, experiencing life in every way I can. Helping others, watching my children grow, waking up ever morning beside the person I love. These things make me happy, and so I think *I* am the happiest person in the world.

I've never had any solid knowlege that I would have the things I need. Just the knowlege that I would at least have ENOUGH - the basic things in life - would go a long way to making me a happy person; if I knew that I would always have the basic things that I need, then I could quit worrying (not that it helps much), and be a lot happier than I am now.

That my 16 month old grandaughter was still alive(drowned last July). The next thing to make me happy will be when "grandma"(MY X WIFE) gets sent to prison on manslaughter and child neglect charges. She couldn't be bothered to watch the kid enought to keep her out of the backyard swimming pool(she was in the pool at least 45 min when found). Her trail won't be till spring, but I can be patient and wait.

Meeting a woman who is my soul mate and having a job I enjoy with a good enough income to provide for my future while allowing me to enjoy my life today.
I'm not obsessed with riches or with getting to the top of the corporate ladder.

waking up tomorrow to find that I have enough money to buy a house closer to work and school, and to never worry about bills again. Bliss.
