They didn't make the same mistakes on the exam. Some of them got 5s and some got 4s showing that they obviously made different mistakes.

They may have all made similar mistakes because they had the same math teacher throughout upper mathematics. Most people have many different teachers with different styles and emphasis.

The reason everyone freaked out was because no one expected such a low income school to ever have anyone pass the AP Exam, much less such a large number.
