Hi:
You can also check local libraries or art associations in your area. Just doing a yahoo search, I found the 'Arts Council for Long Beach' at 110 W. Ocean Blvd, Suite 20, Long Beach, CA 90802 ph. 562-432-5100 or www.artspca.org. They might be able to provide a few leads for you.
You might also want to check out the wetcanvas, the online artist community website with more than 95,000 worldwide members. Basic membership there is free, and surely someone there may have more specific information to get you in touch with finding what you're looking for.
You might check out the Internation Association of Pastel Societies for a member regional group that's in your area. One of those may provide you some leads.
Local art supply stores may also be helpful for finding leads.
Here in the Kansas City Missouri area, there is UMKC's Communiversity, that offers various workshops and classes such as figure drawing, paintings and such. The Kansas City Art Instititute also offers adult continiuing education classes.
Hope this information helps you, and good luck in finding what you're wanting!
