I have my own tetra aquarium that i first started with because people suggested it would be good for a starter.
I asked in this site what fish would be best in an aquarium and i would like to thank all of them who replied.
I am a newbie in fish care but i did my research on sites and i know not all of them are true so i am asking other people who takes care of fish.

What kinds of fish are in your aquarium? Tell what kind and how many.
how big is your aquarium?

thanks

I have a 30 gal and 50 gal tank. The 30 gal tank was my original one. i didn't want to get a 10 gal becuase i knew i was going to want a variety of fish, not just 1 or 2 in it. Over the years I have tried many different combinations of fish, plecos are one of the easiest fish to take care of simply becuase they can live in almost any water condition. They can actually become acclimated to water with a low amount of chlorine. Plus they clean your tank :) Currently in my 50 gal i have a mating pair of black convict cichlids(2 females about an inch long, the male, 1 1/2"), a pair of kenyi african ciclids(both about 2-3 inches), a 13" long African clown knife, and an african butterfly fish(if you've never seen one, google it, it's a very beautiful fish). I've never had a problem with the small convicts and the knife fish, mainly becuase despite their size, convicts can hold their own against larger fish, even oscars. I had 12 fish in the tank at one time, which is why i bought the 50 gal and moved the majority of fish to it, due to the overcrowding. Currently in the 30 gallon, I only have my 1 year old oscar, which is about 7 inches long, and my 1 1/2 year old pleco which just reached 14 inches. Funny thing is, you can turn a pleco into a top feeder rather than a bottom feeder, or at least i did. It actually comes up to the top of the tank, sticks it's nose out of the water and sucks the flake food into it's mouth, very funny to watch.

As far as the tank setup I originally had the topfin brand filters for the respective sizes of tanks, but recently switched them both over to canister filters which are working much better and they are easier to maintain.

I have a 55 gallon with several tetras and catfish. One raphael cat, one bumblebee cat, couple of bottom feeders, a rainbow shark & bala shark. I had to sell the bala last week b/c he started eating my other fish. In two years he went from 2" to about 9" long. He became very aggressive and I learned that's what happens if you add frozen bloodworms to their diet.

I started with a fairly large tank and primarily tetras and cat fish (freshwater sharks are basically catfish) to teach my children how to care for a tank of this size. I think the type of fish you're starting with is a very good practice run.

The larger they get and the more fish you acquire you need to up their diet to include frozen brine shrimp, twice a day.

If you ever have any questions or need directions give me a shout.

I used to, they was so non violent. however the greater present day aquariums, in spite of the undeniable fact that purportedly greater efficient for the fish, are purely too busy. And there are too many young infants rampaging (actually) around--mothers and dads look to deliver their young infants there and purely set them loose and the infants bypass working and screaming around--if I have been a ascertain i may well be greater careful because of the fact pedophiles ought to certainly haul a new child away and it may well be a collectively as till now the ascertain figured their new child replaced into lacking. I stay in a honest length city and the final time i replaced into on the city aquarium, human beings have been leaving their bags and handbags on those benches, unattended, and wandering off to verify the different tanks! Plus the front value for the aquarium is something like $35 now--too prosperous for me to do.

I have a 125 gallon tank that I have 5 small Oscars in. I am hoping to see two pair up, then I will sell the others to our local fish store.

I also have a 7 gallon tank, I have guppies in there, I am waiting for them to breed so I can feed their fry to my oscars.
