You are a nightowl! I have insomnia too. I have most of my energy at night. Luckily I have a job that (most of the time) lets me keep my weird hours. Right now I'm on nightshift. It's dayshift that kills me!
I've written most of my best songs & done my best paintings in the wee hours of the morning. That's when I'm most inspired & most creative. It sucks if you have to get up early for work if this is the case you should try to do something relaxing before bed. If you do strenuous exercise several hours before bed it may exhaust you enough that you can crash. If you're fortunate enough not to have to get up early for a job or kids or anything then just follow your body's own clock & stay up late & do something creative. There's nothing wrong with having energy at night. Some people are morning people & others come to life at night.
When you have a curious and active mind, sometimes it's when you go to lie down that all these questions pop into your head. So write them down, do something with it. Maybe the answers will come to you in your dreams once you finally get to sleep. Thinking too much is a gift & a curse. It's a sign of an intelligent mind. So feel blessed.
Just make sure you do get some sleep at some point or you will feel like hell. Constant sleep deprivation can feel like depression & will take a toll on your health. If you can, just sleep during the day and stay up at night! If you can't, speak to your doctor about options for dealing with insomnia.
Good luck!
Hey I just noticed someone mentioned 3 am. That's strange because I keep looking at the clock at 3:33 & it kind of freaks me out. Does it mean something? What is the significance of the 3s...I heard that 3 o'clock is the witching hour...

I wish I had an answer for you but I don't.
I have the same problem.
One thing that has helped me is the meditate and recite Bible verses. Psalms 23 has become one of my favorites passages. After I had memorized it, when ever I cannot sleep, I begin to work over in my mind. There are not very many nights I actually remember getting through the whole passage, and if I do, I begin all over again with the first line or select another passage.
Here is how I do it:
Starting with the first line, concentrate on each word in that line as I repeat the line over and over to myself, thinking about what each word means in context of the whole passage.
Because "THE" Lord is my shepherd, I have everything I need.
Because The "LORD" is my shepherd, I have everything I need.
Because The Lord "IS" my shepherd, I have everything I need.
Because The Lord is "MY" shepherd, I have everything I need.
Because The Lord is my "SHEPHERD' I have everything I need.
Because ......
Once I complete the first line, I go onto the second line and do the same as I did with the first until the whole passage has been completed.

Well, tell you what...when you find the answer, you can tell me alllllll about it. The time here is nearly 4:14 am and I can't sleep either. I'm going through the same cycle as you, and I've noticed that my daughter-in-law is having the same issues. She got up at 3 a.m. and sat there playing solitare because she couldn't sleep. In fact, I've been talking to lots of people with the same problem. And there is a consistancy about 3 a.m. with everyone I know. If they're not awake, that's the time they get up. I've always been troubled with 3 a.m. and I peak starting around midnight as well, but the clock always gets my attention at 3.
Do you know people who have this problem that you don't talk to in here? I was just wondering because it seems to be a definite pattern. It's just certain people. It's almost like we are supposed to be up at this time...like we're in training for something. Isn't the military up at 4 a.m.?? Are we standing watch while they get their sleep? Sometimes I wonder. Ahhh, I know that sounds nuts and just food for thought, but it is very interesting though.
I think the only thing we can do is maybe take an OTC sleep aid or something. I know our beds have a lot to do with not sleeping well. Heck, maybe all we need is that new space age material to sleep on...or it's possible we're being fed that information during the commercial. Oh, gosh...what's that power of suggestion called...I just had it. Sublimminal thoughts. That company could be doing that on purpose in a test to see if it works. I know my bed isn't comfortable, and I fall asleep during the day, wake up, (I'm not working right now), then continue the pattern all night. Up, down, up at 11 p.m. and can't shut down again until my eyelids drop. Then I don't see the world till noon.
This is a sleep robber and I hate it with a passion. It's like I should be working midnights. I have all my best thoughts and impressions in the wee hours and if I tell people that don't know what I'm referring to, they think I'm nuts! BUt hahahahaha, maybe we are crazy...? Who knows. All I know is, is that if I shut down my computer right now???, it would still take me an hour or more to finally go to sleep. This is so unfair. Then I feel like garbage the next day until 'late' then rev up. Then I sit here trying to connect the dots to every terrorist action that has been since 9/11...and I don't do conspirecy stuff, but I just seem to find all the most interesting and complete information about 'what is next.' It's mind boggling.
Anyway, don't feel bad because I'm right here with you. Maybe Tylenol P.M. or something. But I would only want to use one at a time. Once I took two because I had a back ache and it made me sick. I don't take meds unless it's an antibiotic for infection, which I don't get sick anymore either...just sinus, then I take Advil Cold and Sinus.
Drop me a line at my email if you can't sleep or we can talk on messenger if you'd like. leahanna412003@yahoo.com

I have been there I was living on 2-3 hrs of sleep a night for a few years and almost cracked up, it really can drive you crazy if you let it go to long.
Re-train you internal clock.
Get up a half hr earlier then what you usually do and eat breakfast (very important).
If you already eat breakfast gr8. Then get up and straight after breakfast do something active, take a quick walk jog on the spot what ever it takes. Drink coffee only in the morning none after lunch.
When you come home don't rest buz around be flat out.
Also start address the questions that are on your mind before you go to bed. If you sort them out before bed they can not follow you in to bed.

I get this when my internal clock is off. It helps to get more exposure to natural light, even if it's just for windows during the day. You also have to make sure you adjust the amount of light that's coming from your lamps so it's dimmer in the evening. Try and mimic indoors as much as you can what's going on outdoors as far as lighting is concerned. Eat your meals at regular times, esp the last one, so it's not too late. Try to have a more consistent waking and bedtimes. Stop the caffeinated types drinks earlier in the afternoon. Once you reset your clock, you should start to notice your creative window time changing so that occurs earlier in the day.

The most likely reason is that you appear to be a night owl. And owls do their best work in the evening. If you arent' able to change your sleep schedule, then you need to make an effort to do more thinking and work earlier in the day.

you are having too much stress during daytime aand in the night your mind tries to take a rest but the stress keeps you awake nd uses up all your energy so that when you wake up (even if u didn't sleep) you will have no energy left for the day.
Try to take a break
(try pretending your sick and get to stay in bed all day)
Jsut be cool.

You're probably suffering from insomnia. Seek help to your physician and maybe he can endorse you to a specialist regarding your specific problem. Somehow, he/she could remedy that mental activity of yours and put it on a different "timeslot". Your mind's activity should not go to waste.

Maybe when you come home from work you should lay on the couch and rest and if you fall asleep then great. You should just relax and unwind.
