the pill rarely causes weight gain. The shot will DEPO is a bad one. But the pill might cause a slight weight gain till you get your 1st menstral period after starting. I only gained 5lbs when i was on it. I gained about 40 with Depo though. Try the low dose one called Jasmine (Yasmeen) is how it is pronounced i think. its just as good as the old pils like ortho trycylin but it isnt as much hormones wich is what can cause the weight gain. The pill can increase appetite in some ppl.

It's true weight gain can be a side effect of the pill. But everyone is different. I've been on the pill for 2 year's now and I haven't gained any weight from it at all! I use Yasmin but I did try some other kind (cant remember the name) and that one didn't work for me at all it made me moody. You'll just want to talk to your doctor about what's best for you and you might have to try a few different kinds before you do find what works for you. Just talk to your doctor they know more about these thing's and can help you out better.

I have never taken the pill however I have an injection every 3 months called depo provera (not exactly sure but i think thats what its called, don't have a script handy to check) it has been great for me and i haven't put on any weight while i have been on it for the last 10 yrs...the best part is i don't have to remember to take a pesky little pill everyday. I don't know if it agrees with everybody but it does with me.....might be worth a try if you are worried about putting on weight from taking the pill. Although having said that as with everything there is probably a whole different bunch of side effects and everyones body is different....I haven't had any yet though ;) *fingers crossed*

The pill doesn't always cause weight gain. Unfortunately you won't know for a few months whether this side effect will affect you or not. Personally the weight gain side effect never affected me. To my knowledge there's no "brand" of the pill that doesn't list weight gain as a side effect. My advice would be to try it, or talk to your doctor about an alternative form of birth control.

It will put the weight back on you if you let it. Continue your healty lifestyle and chances are the pill will not make a dent in your weight. I have been off and on the pill for the last 20 years - they all have the potential of putting the weight on you but as long as you are careful you will be fine. I am actually on the pill now and through diet and exercise I am losing weight.

If you are worried about putting on weight if you go on the pill, why not talk to your doctor about getting a bar put into your arm?
Both my daughters had this done and didn't have any bad side effects from it. One side effect that one had was that she didn't have her period for the time that she had the bar inserted, but the other one did. Go figure.. lol
But do talk to your doctor about any concerns you may have. There are so many different types of contraceptions available that I'm sure you'll find one to suit you.

The pill does make you gain weight that is the one side of effect you can count. Talk to your doctor about your concerns maybe he/she will have other opinions for you.

they smtimes say that weight gain is insignificunt, but they lie. i have a bunch of friends and acquaintances - they all gained weight, even if some of them didn't have a problem with weight before. this is also the reason why i never used a birth control pills.

don't go on the pill. there are a lot of side effects besides weight gain. they have also been known to cause abortions right after the egg is fertilized. they can cause miscarriages. why would you want to live with that. i would suggest you use condoms instead.

It's true that it can have that side affect for some women, but it didn't for me. I've been on it for about 8 years and it's fine. If you have dramas with it talk to your doctor, he can offer another brand/ type/ dosage, he'll find something that works for you.
GOOD LUCK!!! You'll never look back once you've got it right
