My room-mate really wants to live with me again, but I was thinking of living somewhere cheaper with another friend. He wants to pay the difference between the two rents to get me to live with him again but I think this is wrong. What do you think?

When the guys say they will pay the difference they actually mean something... ahem. Yeah, trust your gut reaction. Why all of a sudden is it SO important foir him to live with you that he's willing to pay extra? I think you understand it correctly. No, it is not wrong, it is just a bad idea. Do what is best for you.

whatever you do decide on--make sure it is an agreement in writing---I mean it---get all agreements in writing. Everything sounds good and goes good but the first time it starts to go bad it can be terrible and you are stuck. This is a real life issue---don't worry about friends and stuff--worry about yourself. Get a big deposit if the phone is in your name, or damage is done by someone else. Why would this guy want you to move in? Is he looking for a maid?Stay where you are and be happy.

How is that wrong? He thinks you are moving for financial reasons, so he wants to help out.
Is there something that you're not including in the question, that's making you want to move out?
