This topic seems to be one of the most controversial in Calfornia politics: I'm going to step my foot in and express my ongoing thoughts about this.

Children of illegal immigrants do deserve the legal recognition of being natural-born citizens, however their parents are not entitled to healthcare benefits. Systematically depriving children is ethically wrong and morally reprehensible

I agree completely. I thought the law has to provide healthcare for the indigent though. If the illegal immigrant parents have some sort of income, I believe they should have to pay on a sliding scale; however the children should be taken care of without cost (but not till 18!)

there are US citizen children that have NO healthcare coverage.. so y should they get it.. US citizens pay taxes which cover the hospitals and things.. I was in the hospital in Nov and I had a bill in the mail before I got out.. they demanded I pay the other $4000 that medicare won't pay.. They would not even admit me until they made sure my medicare would pay.. Doctors will not even see u if u don't pay up front anymore so I don't care if their children are legal or not..they should have to pay the bills too... I know it's America and everyone is entitled to emergency medical care...the problem is with them.. it's not an emergency.. I had to pay $3.00 for cold medicine when my son was smaller AFTER taking him to the MD.. they go to ER for every little thing (at several thousand dollars to taxpayers) when all they have to do is go to Wal-Mart and spend $2.00 for medicine.. They were not invited here and then they come and pop out babies like crazy and WE are paying for it..

Gov. Schwarzenegger has raised an interesting point. If someone comes to a hospital with an emergency, they must be treated. If illegal children don't have medical insurance (as many now don't), and they get sick, they will seek treatment, and be treated, at the cost of the state. Gov. Schwarzenegger is proposing insuring every child, regardless of status, simply because it would be cheaper for everyone. If someone has insurance they seek treatment far sooner than if they don't have insurance, and thus it is much cheaper to treat. (Take a common cold or flue compared to treating pneumonia). So, should they get subsidized healthcare? Depends on if you want to save money or not.

Their parents aren't supposed to be here, thus, logically, neither should they. If they get sick, it's their illegal parents' fault and their responsibility. If they die, it's their illegal parents' fault and their responsibility.
Nothing is free in this country. The taxpayer has to foot the bill at some point.
These kids are not entitled to a damn thing if I'm paying for it.

No i think not... we had to pay for our kids and were always told there is no free lunch! But apparently they can drain the system and put hospitals out of business so no one can use them... by not paying their bills and that OK for them! All because of where they come from and the tint of their skin! Mean-while i am threatened with collections for the 1700 i owe because my insurance would not pay... something is wrong with that!

i dont think they should, we paid the taxes to pay for that health care and from the moment the illegals kids are born they are citizens and get free treatment, i couldnt get free treatment for my child and i was born here, and so were my great grand parents.

No, everyone should have the same access to the same
facilities, illegal means that you have to apply for the proper
citizenship rights as everyone else, there are two seperate
issues here........Should illegal immigrants not have to become
legal rather, than stay illegal........................................................

Health care should only be for law abiding citizens instead.....

Everyone should get free healthcare. This is America! Get sick and die because you can't pay for the operation? I bet Jesus loves that.
