Lips evolved as speech developed.

we evolved lips so that we can laugh at those who were unpleasantly and rudely left without them. for example ... i laugh at my neighbor nearly every morning. her face obviously is still evolving ... however. oddly... there is a hint of hope for her family because she married into a generation of lips. but it still is a spectacle ... a full grown woman without any lips standing next to her 3 children who are half-lipped and a husband who isnt always smiling because of his fully developed lips. amazing i tell you!
